The Strat came in with what was thought to be a broken switch. In the fact, one of the coils of the humbucker was broken and measuring very high, probably due to a break in the wire somewhere. The frets were very worn and the bridge was heavily rusted. The output was also rusted up and faulty.
I rewound the coil and wax potted the repaired pickup, replaced the faulty output and levelled the frets and recrowned them. Some of the grooves worn into the frets were so low I couldn’t get them out but you can’t feel it when you play.
I tried to clean the bridge to free up the rusted parts and this worked in part. Unfortunately I had to clamp the grub screws to get them out which ruined any good thread that was left. The saddles are unusual as they are thinner than normal, I managed to rescue the saddles but replaced the other screws and springs.
Setup with 9 – 42 strings.
