The nut on this bass had collapsed and the A string was jumping out of the slot. When I removed the nut I found the bottom of the slot was neither flat nor curved, instead you could see a router had gone at different heights on either side with a lump being left in the middle which was providing no support at all. I flattened in out and installed a bone replacement.
The setup is ok but there are high frets which need levelling, maybe for another time?
