The Jesus and Mary Chain 1971 Fender Jazz

I’ve seen this bass before… It’s back for a once over to get it ready for some shows. I needed a thorough clean, fret level, new bone nut and a re-wire. The bridge earth wasn’t making contact with the bridge and the grounding plates weren’t showing continuity so I re-soldered them. It’s standard for Fender not to put a ground on the output or between the post as they link via the control plate, should the become loose however the bass could cut out completely.

The bridge had been bodged a few times so I replaced it with a Gotoh one.

The neck had been clamped so tight by the plate it had embedded itself in the body, probably because the neck it a little mobile, again common is Jazz basses. I but some double sided tape in the pocket to stop this along with a couple of shims.
