The owner of this guitar found the frets too thin but also too high, at first I though I might be able to level and dress them but after some discussion we decided that it would be best to go for a full re-fret. I usually use stainless steel wire but in this case as the owner was reluctant to use something they hadn’t tested out first. They were also keen to use wire that was similar to the size Gibson used around 1959. I found Dunlop 6130 was a close match. After a quick setup I prefer the feel of this guitar with the wider frets.
