This old Jag had been re-fretted with the frets that the owner really couldn’t get on with. He described them as tall weird jumbo things and when I saw them I was surprised to see how tall they were. On closer inspection the fret slots hadn’t been cut deep enough for the frets and they were actually sitting proud of the fretboard with the gaps full of glue.
Once I’d removed the old frets it was clear that the slots where also quite wide and even after I’d made them deeper required each fret to be glued in individually.
As the old frets were so tall I was able to use the old nut, which I like to be able to do on guitars this old.
