This Jackson came in for a refret with stainless steel fret specifically. I use them as standard so this was no problem. It also had a coil tap switch in the place the volume usually occupies and no tone and the owner wanted it returning to a more “normal” way of doing things, with the tone being push/push to switch in the coil tap on both pickups.
Once the frets were removed I found the fret board was very “chippy”. This isn;t uncommon with ebony boards but some are worse than others. I had to fill a lot of chips and even when I was regretting more chips required attention. I think it turned out well.
The owner had also complained that the neck felt odd and that maybe something had happed to the finish. On inspection I found it was a build up of first and dead skin and just needed a good clean.
This had essentially had a full re-wire and I had to drill one of the control holes to increase it’s size to accommodate a pot.
Setup with a very low action.
