Gibson Les Paul Classic Fret Level and more.

Originally this guitar was coming in for a re-fret but when saw it I could see that a fret level was more appropriate. The frets had worn flat and felt quite square.

After levelling and re-crowning I encounter an issue I’d not anticipated; the owner had swapped the bridge for a roller bridge which is much taller than a standard “Tune-matic” and with the lower (now level) frets meant the action wouldn’t go low enough. On top of this the under-string radius was closer to 20″ than the Gibson 12″ which can cause other issues with the setup.

It was decided that an ABM Roller Bridge was the way forward. Straight out of the box I nearly had to adjust it, what a beautifully made thing.
