Well played J45 owned by Ben from the band Gomez. It came in to have the action lowered but on inspection the truss rod had been tightened so there was no relief at all. I assume this was done to get the action down as the nut (which I made perviously) had worn too low. The saddle had also had some taken off to lower the strings.
The issue here was how to get the action lower when everything seemed to be as low as it would go? The frets were very uneven, when I tried to get the neck straight with the strings off the closest I could get was an S shape with a lump around the 5th fret and a rise up at the end of the fret board toward the sound hole, this needed a fret level.
With some time constraints I did what I could, including the fret level, bone nut, but also lowing the bridge a little and in creasing the depth of the string slots from a pegs a little. In my opinion however this guitar needs a re-fret and possibly some more work to lower the bridge to get the best out of it.
