The owner of this guitar wanted an old headstock repair making more “invisible”. I explained that the repair was good but as it was old there were years of oil and fluff and god knows what else in the crack in the lacquer that would be very hard to clear. The guitar is also stained so taking it back to the wood wasn’t an option as matching the colour would be nigh on impossible for me.
I made the old repair smooth and blend in more but the fluff and “stuff” wouldn’t come out making the crack still quite visible.
He also explained that this guitar didn’t get played much as the setup was so bad, I gave it the once over and it now plays much better.
