Finish repairs can be nightmare jobs, especially acoustic guitars where the lacquer can be really thin. This acoustic came in with a knock which had caused some lacquer to come away. I attempted to patch up the damage and then fill up the hole with some fresh clear lacquer. Unfortunately whenever I tried to flat it back I ended up removing more of the black finish, which made the repair stand out like a sore thumb. My only option was to put some black over the top. This means colour matching and in this case it wasn’t close. Sometimes you just have to walk away.
