This guitar came in to have some Seymour Duncan Black Winter Humbuckers installed. The stock pickups were already long gone and both the currently installed pickups and the new ones were both NOT surface mounted. In fact the mounting screws had gone all the way through the guitar body. I plugged the holes and used some more appropriate screws. Remember, if you’re guitar doesn’t have pickup frames and there isn’t a scratchplate the pickups are probably surface mounted and replacements should also be like this.
