This old Very Thin has been through the wars a bit and came to me with no output. My first job was a to get it working and I found that both coils on both pickups were broken, in fact the hook up wires had deteriorated so much that the coating was gone!
I rewound the pickups and reassembled them, then I check the working (which was fine) and reinstalled everything, which is a task in itself.
At some point the neck has been reset and I think this has done the guitar some favours as the angle looks great.
There are many issues with this instrument which then became apparent; there isn’t enough relief in the neck and the truss rod (now loosened as much as I could) didn’t seem to help at all; some of the inlays are lifting; the frets are worn, most notably on the A string where one note doesn’t work at all; the tuners are missing their grommets and some of them are bent out of shape and feel very tight.
A re-fret is needed here but whether that’s economical Im not sure.
Setup as much as I could with D’Addario 10 – 46.
