BSG Acoustic Bass

This bass had a very high action, the volume control had fallen off and the pickup wasn’t working on the E and G string.

When the bass had been converted to fretless the nut had been left meaning the action was not only high at the twelfth fret but at the nut too. There is some rattle around thew 6th fret on the D string so maybe a board level is required.

The saddle slot wasn’t flat and the saddle itself was very low meaning the string pressure wasn’t great, I’m also not sure whatever the pins is made off is the best stuff and not hard enough.

I planed the bridge to get more string pressure on the saddle and levelled the slot, the pickup is now working fine and the volume control re-positioned.

Setup with supplied Gear4Music strings.
