This Strat was breaking strings, all of them so it was unclear what the issue could be. The action was also high and the frets well worn.
I checked the saddles as there were some grooves which potentially could have weakened the string but they were smooth. I suspect the strings are actually counterfeit Ernie Balls so I used a fresh set that I’m certain are genuine.
I levelled and re-crowned the frets, this is probably the only level you’ll get out of them and it’ll be a re-fret next.
The pickups wouldn’t to go as low as I wanted and found it was a combination of the rubber “springs” deteriorating and a mass of gaffa covered pickup leads stopping the pickup from moving. I re-wired to remove the excess cable.
Setup with Ernie Ball 10 – 46.
