This custom made guitar came in for some work on the frets and to have the electronics wired up. The fret job has to be one of the worst I’ve ever come across and I was tempted to suggest a re-fret if I wasn’t so concerned about the state the fret slots made be in, namely how deep they are. I managed to get them level and crowned but there isn’t as much relief as I’d like, that neck is a huge lump of aluminium. They didn’t seem to be dressed at all on the edges so I filed them back and made them comfortable to play.
The pickup was missing its plus so I had to hardwire it to a lead.
The bridge doesn’t match the 9.5″ radius of the finger board, I think it’s more like 14″ but the guitar intonated and although a little rattly sounds pretty good.
I’ve also been asked to make a copy of the scratch plate in tortoise shell, but that is to follow…
Setup with D’Addario 10 – 46.
