This old Hofner President (late 50s, early 60s?) was though to be lost by the owner who learned to play guitar on it along with his siblings, found it hidden away in the loft. To say it needed work was an understatement.
Over the years it’s had various modifications done long with a terrible refret that goes through the binding but there’s a limit to how you can spend on something like this, no matter how sentimental.
I did what I could, rewiring the guitar but ignoring the refret and the neck break and giving it a good clean and general overhaul. Strung up with D’Addario with a replacement bridge it plays ok and has a great bluesy sound.
