The action on this guitar was very high, not unusual for a 12 string but the owner wanted it as low as it would go. I suggested a fret level was the way to go ensure the action really was as low as possible but I didn’t expect the fret job to be quite as bad as it was.
The strings had been put on the guitar badly. It actually broke one of my tools getting some of the buttons out. You can see from the photos that some of them had been pushed into the bridge so far that it was pushing the strings out of alignment.
There was a terrible dent in the first fret around the b string but after I’d levelled, recrowned and polished the frets, lowering the saddle left a guitar that really is great to play. I was surprised just how low the action went.
